My wife and I reviewed multiple attorneys' websites before contacting Maynard & Sumner. I chose Maynard & Sumner because Mr. Maynard was experienced. Seeing that he had already been to the Supreme Court on a Megan's Law matter showed me he was knowledgeable. It also told me that he understood that each individual had a different circumstance and doesn't perpetuate the "witch-hunt" by clumping all convicted sex offenders into a distrusted group.
The legal representation that I received from Mr. Maynard was very thorough and professional. My original conviction was in the military court, which is different than civilian court. My case in the military court was handled by a Senior Associate, but all my communication was though a Junior Associate. Therefore, when working with Mr. Maynard in the civilian court, it was nice to talk directly with the lawyer who was handling my case, instead of through others.
Mr. Maynard's and Kristi's [paralegal] help made walking into court very easy. The staff was very respectful and courteous. They were good at keeping me informed even when there was a lull in the case. Also, I was not given any false expectations.
In addition, the use of Dr. Witt [the expert hired by Mr. Maynard] was helpful because he is well known and respected for his work with sex offenders.
Thanks to Mr. Maynard's hard work and researching all points to develop the petition, the court hearing was quick and painless. The prosecutor even wished me good luck before the hearing!
I was very happy to complete the hearing. Until now, the Megan's Law requirements were a weight on my shoulders, and it took me about a week to realize the weight was gone. I would recommend Mr. Maynard to others who have similar Megan's Law matters.
